Madhubani Painting / Mithila Painting (Framed)

Madhubani painting straight from our women's self-help group in a remote village in Madhubani District in Bihar. What makes these beautiful paintings special is the intricate work. 

Madhubani or Mithila paintings come from the Mithila region in Bihar and the adjoining parts of Tarai region in Nepal. These paintings are done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens and match-stitcks. According to local mythology, the origin dates back to the time of Ramayana, when King Janak had ordered his kingdom to decorate the town with Mithila paintings at the time of his daughter, Sita's wedding with Rama.
